Storing thermal paper: away from light, moisture and heat
Thermal coatings react to the environment; storage affects image depth and retention.

Thermal paper images come from a chemical reaction in the coating when heated, which makes it sensitive to its surroundings. Long exposure to strong light can yellow unprinted areas and fade printed text faster.
Humidity also affects the paper. Damp rolls are more likely to jam in printers, and the coating may become mottled by moisture. Keep full cartons in a dry, ventilated place and off the floor.
For temperature, avoid radiators, equipment exhausts and windows with direct sun. Rotate short-term stock first in, first out to limit long storage.
